Artist, Robin Maddock discusses his exhibition Nothing We Can’t Fix By Running Away showing at 29 Sydney Street for Brighton Photo Biennial 2018.
For the last twenty years, Robin Maddock has travelled England building his egalitarian portrait of national identity. The resulting images are exhibited here for the first time.
During this talk, Robin will discuss themes around his show, what motivated him to make a project about England at this time, and the importance of attempting to represent a whole nation in times of upheaval.
He will explain his working practices, how the project has evolved and some of the challenges in its realisation.
The project is due to be published in book form and Robin will share his aspirations for the publication, how it will differ from the exhibition, plus its relationship with his previous and forthcoming books on England, France and Nigeria.
The talk will take place in the exhibition space.
