Photoworks appoint 2020 Writer in Residence
We are pleased to announce that Marissa Chen has been chosen as the Photoworks 2020 writer in residence.
Marissa will contribute to five themed issues of Photography+ this year. This will include writing her own article for each issue and working with the Photoworks editorial team to commission new features and share ideas.
Photography+ is the online magazine published five times per year by Photoworks. Each issue focuses on a different theme exploring where photography crosses over with everyday life.
Marissa is a Singapore-born writer who divides her time between Southeast Asia and the UK. She holds an MA in Creative Writing from Birkbeck and has contributed to publications like The Japan Times and Critical Mass on topics including mental health, pop culture and literature. Marissa is also a member of the Native Agency, a collective of visual journalists from under-represented regions and is a 2020 Women Photograph Mentee.
Marisa will work with Digital Programme Producer Ally Davies on Photography+.
Ally said, “We are excited to have Marissa on board as our inaugural writer in residence. Her perspectives will bring a new strand of thinking to Photoworks and I look forward to working with her and the rest of the Photoworks team to craft informative and exciting content for our upcoming issues of Photography+. ”
