Brighton Picture Hunt
10 February 2010
Celebrated American photographer Alec Soth has collaborated with his seven-year-old daughter Carmen to create a new body of work made in Brighton, specially commissioned by Photoworks for the Brighton Photo Biennial 2010: New Documents, curated by Martin Parr.
Like much of Soth’s previous work, the photographic journey combines poetic and documentary sensibilities, each photograph and idea leading to the next. People, places and objects are woven amongst local newspaper headlines. Serendipity is at play as text and image combine to make uncanny connections and provide a captivating portrait of a city.
