Watch a video presentation of work from our Spring 2015 young people's Photography Club - Cameraheads
Previous Photography Club participants who named themselves ‘Cameraheads’ worked on a project they called Shoot At Will. This group of young people met fortnightly on a Thursday evening at Brighton Youth Centre with photographic artist Lindsey Smith and youth worker Hannah Coxeter.
Using both photography and text, Shoot at Will enabled the group to explore and document their locality from their own perspectives and link to the Mass Observation Archive’s Diary Day that took place on 12 May 2015, an annual call for day diaries that captures the everyday lives of people across the UK.
The programme included exhibition visits such as a trip to the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill to see the Brighton Photo Biennial show, Magnum Photos: One Archive, Three Views, and a visit to The Keep, a new, world class archive centre at Falmer to explore the unique Mass Observation Archive.
‘Cameraheads’ achieved a number of bronze and silver Arts Awards supported by a trained Arts Award Adviser, and presented their Shoot at Will project at Brighton Youth Arts Festival BFest in May 2015.
