Portfolio Reviews

3 October 2026, 10am-5pm

@ POST, Hove

Photoworks Portfolio Reviews for artists to develop their practice, network and gain constructive feedback with photography experts from across the UK and beyond.

Aimed at all artists working with photography, these portfolio reviews offer an opportunity to develop your practice, expand your network and share your work with industry experts, during our festival.

Artists can book four, six or eight reviews.

Reviews are now open until 24 September, or until they sell out. Book quickly to avoid disappointment and meet with the reviewers of your choice.

Attending the review includes the opportunity to access a friendly peer to peer crit/networking space throughout the day when you are not being reviewed at a nearby venue. You can also be part of the Open Portfolios event after the reviews, where you will be allocated a space to lay out and show your work to wider industry professionals and the public, providing an opportunity to meet more people.

The portfolio reviews are open to emerging and mid-career professionals including lens-based artists, curators, producers, writers, arts coordinators, facilitators, learning programmers, arts marketers, and community engagement professionals looking for feedback and advice on their practice.

Sessions can be booked in bundles of 4, 6 or 8 with discounts applied at checkout:

  • 4 sessions for £140
  • 6 sessions for £189 (10% off)
  • 8 sessions for £238 (15% off)

Photoworks Friends save even more — 20% extra off all sessions.

To become a Friend, simply add the Photoworks Friends membership to your cart at checkout, and the discount will activate automatically. If you’re already a Friend, the discount applies as usual.

Booking is not guaranteed till you have paid.

  1. Browse the industry professionals and make a list of your selected professionals, including a first preference and second preference list
  2. Fill out the booking form and indicate your first and second preferences. To be matched with as many of your preference as possible, please include as many people as possible in this list
  3. Complete the payment
  4. You will receive an email confirmation
  5. Information regarding your schedule will be sent to you in September

Reviews are manually allocated and offered on a first come first served basis. We will do our best to allocate your reviews according to your preferences, but you may not meet with all your choices.

For support or any enquiries, please contact Sebahsebah@photoworks.org.uk

Photoworks is an Arts Council NPO and registered charity; all proceeds from the portfolio reviews support our ongoing developmental work and opportunities for artists and young people.

We’re offering five bursary places, each covering three free portfolio reviews.

To apply, please email sebah@photoworks.org.uk with the subject heading ‘Bursary’ with:

  •  50-100 words explaining why you would like the bursary
  • Where you are based?
  • A list of ten reviewers you would like to see

The bursary does not cover transport or accommodation costs.

We’ve put together a How to Prepare document for more information.
