Anthony Gerace is a photographer and artist based in London, working primarily with collage, portraiture and landscape. His work is concerned with the effects of time on objects and the transient nature of memory and experience. Anthony has been featured in many publications, including Elephant, IdN, It’s Nice That and Of the Afternoon. His commissioned work has appeared in the New York Times, the Atlantic, the Guardian, the New Republic, Little White Lies, the Travel Almanac, PORT, and Oh Comely, among others. He is originally from Toronto, Ontario.

@anthonywgerace here again, and this is an image from my series “The Ruined Map”, which was conceived of and executed between 2015-2018, with some elements being taken on board for the work I’m doing now. I loved working on this series, in all its permutations, because it allowed me to reconnect with portraits I’ve shot over the last eight years, and allowed me to turn them into something else entirely, yet still deeply connected to the moments I shared with the people I photographed. Portraiture in recent years has become less and less a necessary aspect of my practice, but it used to play such a pivotal role, and to have something like this series, and the wilful destruction of carefully crafted silver gelatin prints that the series necessitated, allowed me to get a handle on how my work was (and is) changing. This piece, along with forty others, was show this year as part of @thecurve_berlin ‘s big group show, and I was so happy to have been a part of it and to be a part of what that gallery is doing. #anthonygerace #theruinedmap #collage
