Ester Vonplon (1980) lives and works in Castrisch, Switzerland.
She studied photography in Berlin and has finished in 2013 her Master in Arts at the ZHdK in Zurich. Her work has been awarded several times amongst others Manor Kunstpreis, 2017.
Her work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions, among others including Museum of Fine Arts Chur, Helmhaus Zurich, Suisse Embassy during UN Climate Change Conferences, Paris, Kunstmuseum Thun, Museum Allerheiligen, Schaffhausen, FOAM Amsterdam, FOMU Antwerpen, Dafen Artmuseum Shenzhen, Les Rencontre d’Arles and at Artfairs and Festivals.
Most recently she published the last part of a trilogy which is about the concept of white, snow and ice. The composition consists of Wie viel Zeit bleibt der Endlichkeit (How Much Time Remains of Finitude), Wohin geht all das Weiss, wenn der Schnee schmilzt (Where All The White Goes When The Snow Melts) and the installation Gletscherfahrt (Glacial Movement), which developed out of her collaboration with the musician Stephan Eicher, 2013-2016. Ester Vonplon captures a vanishing world in her photographs.They reveal as a desperate attempt to counteract the effects of climate change.
