Jessy Boon Cowler is a photographic artist born and based in London, and currently studying her MA at the Arts University Bournemouth. She explores her concerns with the dislocations between the constructed and the natural worlds, and the intellectual and the physical, through the tensions between digital and analogue image making.
Shooting both media on location and in the studio, Jessy creates surreal and trippy imagery, mixing abstract observations with digital manipulation, physical collage, and paint. Her practice is process led, using it as a form of therapy, the results being visceral, carnal, and other-worldly.
She has collaborated with NGOs in the UK and Latin America, facilitating photography workshops as a means to educate and empower disadvantaged people through self-expression.
