Diary Entry: ” An intimacy with yourself is a conversation with God. What do you say in those moments when no one is watching? Do you say anything at all? When you strip to your barest essentials, are you able to consume yourself whole and then come through to the other side of that and see what is beneath your flesh? And if your imagination cannot take you to the other side, when you look in the mirror do you see your grandfather’s chin, the one your grandma fell in love with? Or perhaps that collar bone she touches in all her youthful photographs before she was taught to cover up? Are you able to see not a man or a womxn but a being comfortable in their own splendor?” There are many moments of self reckoning in spaces of quiet. It is here where intimacy and sensuality texture some of my photographs.
