Sofia Yala (b. 1994) is an Angolan/Portuguese photographer with an academic background in Anthropology after graduating from the University of Derby in 2021 with an MA in Film & Photography. Yala’s artwork explores archival material combined with unexpected encounters in life to convey storytelling and bring in different times, textures, and layers. Her work considers a (dis)construction of her identity as a diasporic or transatlantic body in this immense and complex world.
