Photobook - Joachim Schmid - Photoworks 1982-2007

Our castaways are usually asked to choose the eight photographs they would take with them to a desert island. But we're marking Photobook Bristol 2014 with a slight change to our customary format.

Joachim Schmid: Desert Island Photobooks
Saturday 7 June 2014
Southbank, Bristol BS3

Open to all Photobook Bristol ticket-holders

Instead of single images, Joachim Schmid will select and present eight photobooks and discuss his choices with regular host Stephen Bull.

Loosely following the format of Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, Desert Island Pics is an ongoing series of Photoworks talks. Previous castaways include Martin Parr, Mishka Henner and Sean O’Hagan.

Critic, conceptual artist and found photography aficionado, Joachim Schmid’s work concerns fascinations with other people’s discarded photographs.

Based in Berlin, Schmid has exhibited since the 1980s worldwide. To date he has published over a hundred photobooks.

This talk will be open to all Photobook Bristol ticket-holders.

There are 125 weekend tickets available priced at £62 each. Weekend tickets allow entry to all events over 3 days including Friday night BBQ and two music performances.

For more information and to book your ticket visit the Photobook Bristol website.
