Photography Club 2020

Photoworks is excited to present the work of young photographers at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery from 1 – 20 February 2022.

Back in early 2020, Brighton Museum & Art Gallery partnered with Photoworks to run Photography Club, an initiative enabling young people to meet regularly, develop their camera skills alongside a professional photographer, create their own artwork and gain an Arts Award qualification.

The students from Portslade Aldridge Community Academy explored Brighton Museum’s exhibition Anita Corbin: 100 First Women Portraits, which celebrated pioneering women of the 21st century. Supported by artist Marysa Dowling, the young women were inspired to create a series of new artworks exploring their own lives and identities.

We are delighted to finally showcase this work at the Brighton Museum & Art Gallery after the Covid-19 lockdown in March 2020 prevented us from doing so.
