This beautifully designed, limited edition book brings together photographic work by Brighton-based artist Denis Doran together with his own autobiographical stories drawn from his childhood in the North East, that have been typographically set to striking effect. Doran’s work is conceived around the salvaging of fifty-two objects washed up on the beaches of Brighton and Whitley Bay during the fifty-two weeks of 2002. Placed directly onto a scanner and transformed into digital images, the objects form an archive of contemporary detritus with an exquisite decaying beauty which become a metaphor for loss and the erosion of memory.
