Gallery Lock In - Little Western St, Brighton, BN1 2PU
Created by artist Tsz Wai Pun and ecologist Coşkun Güçlü, this multimedia project focuses on a single hillside undergoing ecological restoration on the Northern slopes of Tai Mo Shan in Hong Kong, tracing its ecological and human history and reading its soil as a record of recent ecological change and deep evolutionary time. The layers of this installation present time as something that accumulates at multiple scales, alongside connection in the midst of uncertainty.
Through film, sound, archival materials, photography, scientific fieldwork, and soil DNA analysis, the artists approach the hillside as a palimpsest, a landscape continuously rewritten across centuries and beyond. Volcanic geology, agricultural history, destructive hill fires, colonial intervention, and ongoing ecological restoration are all layered within the same landscape. In this reading, a single hillside becomes a site of entanglement, where past, present, and future do not unfold in sequence but coexist and refract through one another. Bones of Our Land invites us to listen anew to the soil, the forest, and the living archive buried beneath our feet.

Dreamy Place 2026
Dreamy Place returns to Brighton from 23–25 October 2026 with a city-wide programme of art, creative technology and moving image. This year’s festival explores nature and our changing relationship with the natural world, bringing together artists working with scientists, ecologists and environmental professionals, and using creative technologies to reveal, interpret and reimagine the environments around us.
Produced by artists’ film and digital culture agency videoclub, Dreamy Place presents outdoor installations, exhibitions, film trails, sound and dance works, talks, performances and workshops across Brighton, with many events free to experience.
Gallery Lock In
Gallery Lock In was set up as a platform for artists working in durational performance to open up a critical debate with their live and non-live audiences; its main curatorial focus is the social, psychological and physical boundaries of the body and mind. Since 2016, it has a permanent space and hosts socially engaged visual art exhibitions. The Gallery supports emerging and mid-career artists, as well as giving a platform to international artists and those who are excluded from the mainstream and market-driven arts. As a non-profit space, it focuses on works that are temporal including performance, installation and video, as well as providing residency and workshop space for local artists.
