For the Photoworks Digital Residency Programme, Ignacio Navas introduces Kickflip, the testimony of a group of friends whose adolescence, in the midst of the 2000s, unfolds around the skatepark of Tudela, a small city in northern Spain.
Through photographs and voice recordings, Kickflip reflects on the nuances of being a teenager during the turn of the millennium, discovering their own identity through subcultures that clumsily reached the province, and how all of this molded their life experiences. The collection of these narratives, the microhistory of a particular group to which the author belongs, forms a critical review of the values, stereotypes, and behaviors that have defined much of the millennial generation.
