Instagram Takeover: Kira Krász

Kira Krász is this week's guest editor for our Instagram takeover. Kira's installation-based practice focuses on the interplay between images and their physical properties.

Curious about exploring the possibilities of photography, her work experiments with printing techniques, layering, textures, and the use of multiple materials.

Good Morning everybody, this is @kirakrasz for my last day of this takeover today. These two prints are from ‘Thought after Taught’, the second one I rediscovered some days ago. They were printed on the back of an old icons and saints folder. Honestly, paper is the best thing that can happen to a photograph. #photoworks_uk #kirakrasz

Good Morning everybody, it’s @kirakrasz. These pieces were added later to ‘Thought after Taught’, when I got more confident with printing on papers of all sorts, I found at home. The last photograph of the installation was taken at the Cream show in November 2019. I put these two together because there was a silent, softer conversation going on between the prints in that segment of the install. That willow is one of my favourite trees above those black waters, everybody climbs it but it’s still there healthy and strong. #photoworks_uk #kirakrasz

Photographing largely on film, her practice looks at subject matters such as portraiture, abstraction, landscapes, and nudes. She combines this with experimental installation and a focus on the final materiality of her work. She attempts to determine the genre of a photograph by its context rather than its content.

Good Morning everyone, it’s @kirakrasz again. These are the twin images ‘Fairview’ and ‘Looking away from Plainville’ from the project Thought after Taught. They are printed on the double spread contents of an atlas, so they can close for the night like many blossums do. Later on today I will introduce the installations I made out of this large project! #photoworks_uk #kirakrasz #printmaking

Hi lovely people, this is @kirakrasz and the last post for the day. ‘This knee is not figs yet’ and ‘Good morning stretches’ are both late additions to Thought after Taught. The fig was pre-planned for installation. It was printed onto tape, for the image to blur and to enable to just be lifted and stack onto the wall. I was thinking a lot about health-related issues that time. #photoworks_uk #kirakrasz

Krász graduated in 2019 from the University of Brighton BA (Hons) Photography and received a Photoworks award for her series  Thought after Taught.
