Liz Orton is a visual artist using photography, video and text to explore ideas of authorship and representation in relation to land and the body. She is interested in landscape as an entanglement of people, matter and technologies. Her work engages widely with archives, both real and imagined, responding to the tensions between personal and systematic forms of knowledge.
Liz currently holds a Fellowship at the University of Arts London for The Longest and Darkest of Recollections, a research project about contemporary geologic practice and ideas of photographic evidence. She also has a Wellcome Trust Arts Grant for her project Digital Insides, about medical imaging.
