Instagram Takeover: Maria Kapajeva

One of the selected artists chosen for Issue 22 of the Photoworks Annual, Maria Kapajeva, became guest editor for our Instagram Takeover, October 2015.

Maria took over our Instagram account for a week, showing us the behind the scenes of her practice as well as her work and daily runnings of her studio.

She joins a list of guest editors such as Jason Larkin, Simon Roberts, Nick Waplington and Gemma Padley.

Maria Kapajeva’ is an Estonian artist whose photographic work has developed at an exciting pace from its collaborative beginnings using various means such as installation, quilts, digital collage, portraiture in which to consider women’s identity, challenging tradition and old values in today’s globalised economy. Her work has been exhibited internationally including Belfast Photo Festival, FORMAT Festival, Guernsey Photo Festival and Chobi Mela VIII Photo Festival and more recent shows at Auckland Photography Festival (New Zealand) and at Tartu Art Museum (Estonia). Kapajeva is currently completing the FATHOM art residency at Four Corners and Film in London.
