NeoSpirituals are a community of artists, photographers, film makers, musicians who come together regularly to collaborate and produce art as a medium to push African culture forward and the rest of the world along with it.
NeoSpirituals’ mantra is simply to look at the world differently, to imagine what modernisation, narratives and inventions would have looked like for a whole continent with the influence of colonisation and bring that ingenuity, invention and corruption to the forefront instead of the current translated versions of western ideas.
Yaw P is the founder of NeoSpirituals. He is a musician, photographer and filmmaker and will lead the Instagram takeover, sharing photo series and introducing a plethora of genius Ghanaian artists he has collaborated with.
This takeover by NeoSpirituals comes from a partnership between Photoworks and People’s Stories Project (PSP) – part of the British Council’s arts programming across Africa.
