The Dandy Lion Project contributor, Rose Callahan, takes over our Instagram account in the lead up to Brighton Photo Biennial, 2016.
Rose Callahan is a photographer and filmmaker living in Brooklyn, NY, originally from San Francisco, CA. Rose’s work can be characterized by ongoing investigation of convergence of style and portraiture. Her favorite subjects are chosen for their authentic style and documented with an empathetic and curious eye. In 2008, Rose began The Dandy Portraits, an ongoing project to tell the nuanced story of extreme masculine elegance alive today. Her portraits of dandies have since been published in two volumes by Gestalten Press, with accompanying text by Nathaniel Adams: I am Dandy (2013) and the upcoming We are Dandy (2016), exploring global dandyism.
In addition to working with commercial clients, Rose Callahan is the exclusive photographer for the Metropolitan Opera’s style blog LastNightAtTheMet.com where for 3 seasons she has documented the diverse personal style of the audience as they mingle and strut in the iconic opera house.
