The Fleetwood HAZ Cultural Consortium, the Fleetwood Museum Trust, and Photoworks are pleased to announce Hannah O’Hara’s exhibition From Nothing to Now, which will be on display at the Fleetwood Museum, Fleetwood Library, and Fleetwood Market Gallery from November 4 to 28, 2023.
The photographic commission shared is part of a socially engaged photography project created by artist Hannah O’Hara in collaboration with Photoworks. An exhibition celebrating Fleetwood’s people, places, and heritage on the town’s high street, sharing stories, words, and images gathered and created in collaboration with Fleetwood residents by the artist.
Hannah O’Hara was awarded this major co-commission to photograph the unique heritage of Fleetwood, its people, their stories, and their connection to place, as well as the fishing industry’s legacy in this town . Her work reflects the area’s strong and supportive worker and resident community, as well as their pride in this unique town. Hannah O’Hara is a Sussex-based artist with family roots in the Northwest. Her lens-based artistic practice investigates temporality, place and memory. Hannah has had a meaningful experience spending time in Fleetwood, developing many relationships and creating this work. She shared that ‘my focus as an artist has been to immerse myself within the culture of Fleetwood and over the last year I have met and worked with so many kind individuals who have helped me develop this project and given their time freely and told their stories openly.’
The commission and exhibition is part of a co-commission by Photoworks and Fleetwood High Street Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) Cultural Programme, which is supported by Historic England, HM Government, Arts Council England, and Wyre Council.
