What are we looking for?

We will be looking for strong ideas for new work that draw on the open opportunity for research and new approaches to photography; we are not necessarily looking for ‘ready for production’ projects. We would like to hear about the idea you wish to develop, about how this Award and the access to mentoring support could uniquely help you achieve that, and how you perceive it could benefit your practice and development.

How to apply:

Applicants are required to submit:

• A written proposal of no more than 600 words detailing; the idea you would like to develop with this Award; how this Award would uniquely help you to achieve that; and how you perceive the opportunity could benefit your practice and development.

• A Dropbox link to your work. You can submit up to 10 images from a body of work, which does not have to be a single project.

• A CV of no more than three pages. Please include this is in the link to your Dropbox folder.

• A submission fee of £10.

The deadline for submissions is 5pm Monday 1 December 2014.

Selection process

In considering proposals, the panel will debate what they consider to be outstanding and original practice across photography, and will explore this through their selection. They will also consider how this particular opportunity may catalyse positive developments to the selected artists’ practice and profile.

The panel will review all proposals, and from this will select a shortlist who will be invited to be interviewed by the panel. Those shortlisted for interview will receive comments from the panel in advance of the interview, and should be prepared to respond to the panel’s comments or queries at the interview.

Three Awards will be made and the successful artists will be notified by 6 December. Comments from the panel at the first round stage will only be passed on to those shortlisted for interview; we regret that it is not possible to offer feedback to all applicants.
