About London Art Fair
Annually launching the art world year, the Fair provides a supportive environment for collectors of all levels. Museum quality Modern British art is presented alongside work from today’s leading artists, covering the early 20th century to the present day. In addition to the main Fair you’ll find two curated sections focusing on younger galleries, new work and contemporary photography; Art Projects and Photo50.
Photo50
FEMININE MASCULINE curated by Federica Chiocchetti
Photo 50 is a guest-curated exhibition of contemporary photography featuring fifty works. It provides a critical showcase of some of the most interesting and distinctive elements of current photographic practice. This year, Federica Chiocchetti, Founding Director of the Photocaptionist and Photoworks Annual Issue 22 contributor, curates ‘Feminine Masculine’. The exhibition , loosely inspired by Jean-Luc Godard’s 1966 masterpiece Masculin Féminin, aims to explore the challenge of representing the mysterious, at times ineffable and immaterial, dynamics that occur or do not occur between a woman and a man. Presented with a feminine narrative voice, it features the work of primarily, yet not exclusively, contemporary female artists subtly playing with the theme.
Photo50 Artists: Laia Abril (Spain), Ekaterina Anokhina (Russia), Jo Broughton (UK), Natasha Caruana (UK), Elinor Carucci (US), Francesca Catastini (Italy), Dicipula (Italy/UK), JH Engström (Sweden), EJ Major (UK), Timothy Prus (UK), Maya Rochat (Switzerland), Paul Schneggenburger (Austria), Maija Tammi (Finland), Mariken Wessels (NL)
