Photoworks 11
October 2008 – April 2009
Featuring folios by Daniel Blaufuks, Lisa Barnard, Nina Berman and Sarah Pickering, Issue 11 takes its theme from the 2008 Brighton Photo Biennial: The War of Images and Images of War. Julian Stallabrass discuses his role as Biennial Curator; Ian Jeffrey looks at Wilhelm von Thoma; Catherine Moriarty explores posters produced in opposition to the Vietnam War; and Kitty Hauser considers the work of Osbert Crawford. Elsewhere, Martha Rosler writes on Flat Daddy; Mignon Nixon on Nancy Spero’s 1966-70 War Series, and David Chandler on Eddie Adam’s iconic photograph of the execution of a Vietcong prisoner.
