Selected as one of the five showcases from the Annual submission entry on fashion and style, Cherelle Sappleton uses collage to create provocative images responding to the male gaze in editorial photography.

Cherelle Sappleton

The Deﬁne Yourself series of collages works to undermine the overriding male gaze present in the majority of editorial photography. Sculpting the appropriated image to re-imagine and re-inscribe the (female) body,collage is a tool of resistance. These images were produced between 2012 & 2014.
