Workshop Content

Julian Germain workshop, 4pm-5pm (workshop 1)
Using found press contact sheets from the 1940’s and 50’s, Julian will lead a writing based workshop, encouraging participants to engage with image reading, captioning and story telling through images which may struggle without context. Exploring ideas around how photography and text can dramatically alter the way we understand and see an image.

Sunil Gupta workshop, 4pm-5pm (workshop 2)
Participants of this workshop will need to bring a minimum of 10, maximum of 15 work prints in no bigger than 6×4 inch size of their work/projects. The prints will be randomly laid out on the table and Sunil will ask participants to treat the whole collection as a singular archive, engaging in ideas and conversations around how to organise, categories, cataloguing, what’s key when considering archiving, and what the cost implications could be.

*NOTE: Prints bought by participants will be used in the workshop and can just be printed on simple paper. Please do not bring professional or portfolio prints unless you’re happy for them to be handled by the group. Please bring physical prints only – no laptops/digital.
