இருவரின் வாழ்க்கை, எல்லையற்ற அன்பு (Two Lives, Boundless Love), 2020

Sneha Soodamani (born 1996) is an Indian photographer who currently lives in the UK. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, Soodamani was unable to go back to India as planned. இருவரின் வாழ்க்கை, எல்லையற்ற அன்பு (Two Lives, Boundless Love) showcases a dialogue between Soodamani in London and her parents in Mumbai, consisting of visual and textual records that are structured to depict their parallel lives and differing situations during lockdown.

Soodamani likens the experience to being torn in between two worlds. ‘My thoughts were not in one place,’ she explains. ‘They used to bounce from London to Mumbai and back. I worried about my family and friends in Mumbai as well as friends and people around me in London. I used to check the news of both countries and started to feel like I was in two places at once.’ As a result, the project reads like a double diary, with handwritten texts about memories or daily routines positioned alongside pictures of her parents and self-portraits made as double exposures to depict the duality of her life.

Sneha Soodamani received an MA in photojournalism and documentary photography from University of The Arts London.
