We are partnering with English Heritage to offer an exciting new commissioning opportunity for photographers aged between 18 and 25.
Four successfully commissioned artists will be invited to select an English Heritage site to use as a creative springboard. Using that site, artists will then create a new body of photographic work exploring alternative narratives and new voices of England, drawing out ideas around identity and its relationship to ‘Englishness’.
We are interested in presenting a diversity of perspectives on heritage, and the notion of heritage sites as places of significance and meaning, where past and present can interact.
A panel of judges including Stuart Lawrence of the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation and artist Mahtab Hussain will look at artwork submissions.
A fee of £2,400 (inc VAT) is available for each artist and the residency will take place from March to May 2021, including research, development, site visits, contact time with a mentor, and production of the artwork.
Deadline to apply is Monday 18 January 2021 at 9am.
