Photography Club is an exciting offer from Photoworks for 13 – 16 year olds in Brighton.

Young people meet on a regular basis to take part in workshops with a photographic artist. These sessions enable participants to develop their camera skills and produce work for an exhibition.

Getting out and about is an important part of Photography Club. The programme includes exhibition visits to local galleries and research trips to cultural organisations.

The club is free and all equipment and materials are provided.

Photography Club also creates opportunities for young people to complete their Arts Award at various levels, supported by a trained Arts Award Adviser.

Previous Programmes

The most recent Photography Club programme took place in Summer 2018 at Brighton Youth Centre and ended with an exhibition called Why Are We Leaving? shown at the University of Brighton as part of Brighton Photo Biennial 2018.

The Spring 2018 Photography Club group were inspired by the Gluck: Art & Identity exhibition at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery and the programme was delivered in partnership with Royal Pavilion & Museums. Light Shines Through by ‘Viewfinders’ was exhibited at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery from June to August 2018.

Our Spring/Summer 2017 programme was our first Photography Club partnership with Royal Pavilion & Museums. Retracing Brighton, a showcase of ‘The Capture Collective’s’ work, was exhibited at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery throughout the summer.

The Summer 2016 group worked with Photoworks and Fabrica Art Gallery to produce an exhibition as part of Brighton Photo Biennial in October 2016.
