About this work:
This image was selected from series entitled Compost Pictures 2008-9. Here, the subject is a closely framed corner of Shafran’s kitchen; a small purple bowl, containing organic waste ready for the compost pile. This understated and gentle image conveys an enjoyment of the ordinary, and at the same time offers a more abstract sense of light tracing over objects, of time slowed down to a stillness.
