The Jerwood/Photoworks Awards is a collaboration between Jerwood Charitable Foundation and Photoworks, supported by Arts Council England.
A group exhibition of new photography enabled by the first national Jerwood/Photoworks Awards shows at Jerwood Space London, 4 November – 13 December 2015, touring to Impressions Gallery, Bradford 5 January – 19 March 2016 and Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool in Autumn 2016.
The Awards promote and nurture talented emerging artists working in photography today by enabling them to develop ambitious new projects under the guidance of distinguished photography world practitioners.
Mentors for 2015 include artists Gillian Wearing, Simon Roberts, Broomberg & Chanarin and Alec Soth; Sotheby’s affiliated curator and art historian Rodrigo Orrantia, Financial Times photography critic Francis Hodgson and independent photography publisher Michael Mack.
The Awards promote new approaches to photography and support the making of new work with winners receiving a financial award plus access to a production fund, mentoring programme and a group exhibition showing at Jerwood Space, London and touring to other UK partner venues.
The awards are open to all UK based photographers and artists working with photography. Launched as a platform for people to share their passion for photography, we received over 400 submissions.
In November 2015 the new work will go on show at the prestigious Jerwood Space gallery in central London, before going on national tour in 2016.
The first open call for submissions was announced in October 2014.
Three winners of the inaugural Jerwood/Photoworks Awards were announced in January 2015.
