Freedom & Photography: Youth Programme
Join Photoworks in 2024 for a free programme of creative workshops for young people aged 18 – 24 led by photographer India Jaggon.
Hosted at Aspex Portsmouth and delivered in partnership with English Heritage and the University of Warwick, the programme draws inspiration from the compelling narrative of Caribbean prisoners of war held at Portchester Castle during the French Revolution.
Learn different approaches to photography and explore themes of identity, placemaking and ideologies of Black British history. Workshops feature practical activities and collaborative exercises and are designed to be creative, with a focus on skills development.

Whether you have a passion for photography, representation, history, or narratives of displacement and social justice, this programme welcomes those of all levels. No previous experience or specialist kit is required. We provide everything you need.
